First Responders (Scottish Ambulance Service)

Base: 2 groups: Lochranza & Pirnmill, and Kilmory & Southend

Typical Mobilisation Time: Immediate

How Mobilised: 999 – Ambulance Service will decide whether appropriate to mobilise

Personnel: Over 20 volunteers.

Vehicles: Use their private vehicles.

Core Roles: Attending ‘Category A’ calls (non-paediatric, non-trauma) where there is likely to be a delay in the ambulance response.

Triage Awareness: Basic

Casualty Care: Oxygen, defib, suction, bag/valve mask.
